MoCA Research & Innovation leverages the extensive patient population of the MoCA Clinic to host numerous clinical trials that test the efficacity of novel treatments. The original MoCA-along with new validated digital and paper versions-is used around the world, in over 100 languages and dialects. Today, MoCA’s superior sensitivity and accuracy for detecting MCI has been demonstrated in over 2,000 studies. In 2003, after analysis of the 2000 study results, a few elements of the test were optimized, and a new validation study was completed in 2003-2004, which confirmed the test’s discriminatory ability to distinguish Normal controls, from subjects with Mild Cognitive Impairment or Mild Alzheimer’s disease. MoCA performance to distinguish the two groups was excellent. All subjects were classified as cognitively intact or impaired based on a gold standard neuropsychological assessment.
